My initial plan has always been to make this a pay subscription site. This is still my long term plan. So why is
just about everything on this site still free?
One of the major reasons this site is still free is that I get many emails from people in less
affluent countries than Australia. These are honest and genuine people who mean it when they say they would pay a
monthly subscription fee or make a donation if they could. They tell me they simply can't afford it or are too
young to have a credit card. They also say that they cannot afford a teacher if they are lucky enough
to find one where they live.
This site is not really free if you can afford a pizza
I have many instruction books, CDs and DVDs. You probably have too. People living in wealthier western societies
like the United States and Europe do have more disposable cash to join subscription sites or pay for
weekly lessons with a teacher or buy a book. I still buy books and software online and have supported
teachers with cash in exchange for knowledge I can use. And you know what? I feel good about that.
The Internet has not really changed basic human values. I realise there will always be the hardcode "take and
run" freebie hunters. That's all part of life and I accept that. But I know for a fact that many of the
visitors to this site are people who are more than willing to make a contribution if they could in exchange
for knowledge they can use and apply to their life in a practical way. And many people actually do
contribute with small cash donations.
So the question is this?
Have you taken away anything from this place that you can actually use and believe will have some
lasting practical value? If the answer is Yes, consider how much this would be worth if you had received
this instruction or product from a local teacher or bookstore.
On that basis I believe that if you can afford to donate you will feel better
about yourself. I know that sounds a bit philosophical but it's true. When I was in India many years ago I
gave lots of little donations to the street beggars. That's fine. However I felt the most comfortable
giving money to someone who gave me a little something in return, like a palm reading or a piece of craft or
whatever.
I'm not a beggar and I don't want charity.
That's not what this is about at all.
It about being fair to me and honest with yourself.
If you truly cannot afford a small donation you are still my friend and are most welcome to everything I
have offer.
A big thank you if you already made donations.
You know who you are.
It does make a difference.
Good journey and best wishes.
